Today I reserved my picnic shelter at McIver park for the wedding!!! I still have to call the park to get noise and alcohol permits, but now something's concrete! It made my day. And the best part about it was that I paid a total of $65!!! That makes me so happy, especially when I could have rented the rhody garden for $1400 and the Shogren House for $3000. HAHA!

And now to go ask advice in weddingplans. I'll ask it here too, though. My guests still have to pay $3 per car to get into the park. We're already going to be asking them to carpool. Should I pay for them, or is $3 nothing?

either you rent a bus and pile them in, or
you tell them in advance that they have to pay 3$ per car and let them pay themselves because it's nothing. :)

Re:
I could just make myself a ferry service out of my Echo, and people could park outside on the street and pile in the Echo and get in for free since we have a year pass, and then we could drop them off and go get more. But I'd charge $2 a ride, for in AND out! YEAH!

Just let people know ahead of time that they'll have to pay. For me it would only be annoying if you didn't know about it.

Re:
But you wouldn't feel like we're charging admission to our wedding? I feel like it'd be really rude if I made them buy a ticket to my "event." But at the same time, I don't want to pay for them because it's expensive. And the latter is something I feel more strongly about. :)

Yeah, I agree with the others. Let them know in advance. Just print up little notes to add to the invites that mentions it.

I'm glad nobody thinks it's horrible of me not to want to pay it. Thanks!

Not horrible at all.
Hey, I have an interview tomorrow with this company.
If I end up liking them, and them me, I can be your cheap source for all things bridal :)

Wouldn't it be really hard to pay for everyone's car? You'd have to know how many cars to expect, etc. I guess maybe they'd be able to bill you, but $3 is nothing! It might be a nice gesture to have it paid for, but I wouldn't worry about it.

You got a great deal on the shelter, wow! That's really cool. :)

Re:
The people in the weddingplans community say that I should just have the admissions guy collect a ticket we'd include in the invitations. But I've been getting a 50/50 response about whether to even pay for it myself.

You should charge $5 for parking and make a little profit (but I should only have to pay $3 'cause it was my idea).

Seriously though, I don't think $3 is significant enough to upset anyone.
