Sort of a poll, but not really.

Does darkness scare you or comfort you?

I don't know why, really. I like dressing in black, putting face paint on and crawling around at night.

So peaceful to watch people in their homes unsuspecting.

Hmm, never thought of it that way. Which is why I posted it. :)

For me, it depends on what kind of dark it is, and what things are going through my head. I don't like dark if I think something's gonna get me, but I love walking on the beach at night and looking in the windows of beach houses, and I love being bundled up to sleep at night...

Comfort - unless it's really really dark and I am alone - then it can scare me.
So, I guess it depends, sometimes it's a comfort, because it reminds me of sleep and relaxation and calm, but sometimes things can jump out at you and funny noises can play tricks with your mind. Am I making any sense???

You are - that's basically what I think too. :)

that really depends on which kind of darkness it is- sometimes it's scary and sometimes it's nice & comfy.
But- I think I'm more likely to get all freaked out in the dark (because I can't see what's really going on so my imagination goes all nuts).

Yes. I can tell you that after watching Blair Witch, I couldn't walk around at camp in the dark by myself anymore. :)

It depends. In my house, I always like lights on, but I can't sleep unless it's total dark. So I suppose if I'm trying to sleep it comforts me.

Outside, I am kinda scared in the dark. I'm a very paranoid person. I am scared there is an abductor or someone bad near me. I'm also scared of trees. Damn that movie, Poltergeist.

I'm more scared outside too, or in a place where I'm unfamiliar with what's outside. Like if I was staying in someone's big open house all alone, I don't think I'd like it.

comforts me in that I dislike sunlight. The only thing I don't like about darkness is when I hear scary noises and it's dark.

It scares me if I'm alone, unless I'm feeling particularly safe and peaceful.

Scares me if I'm alone in the house, comforts me if I'm all snuggled up with someone :)

In a familiar setting, darkness provides me with the utmost comfort. I guess I don't really like a lot of light, it hurts my eyes too much. On the other hand, if I am in an unfamiliar setting, my imagination tends to take over. I used to work for a cleaning company and had to clean this 4 story house that had been refurbished into an office. Across the street was this huge open space with eucalyptus trees - and the front deck was just like the one in Scream. I would not look out beyond my car for fear of seeing the white ghost mask jumping behind a tree. In that respect - I get so damn scared that I become paralyzed. Damn my brother for liking scary movies and subjecting me to them when I was just a wee babe....
