They hired my replacement yesterday, and she starts on Thursday. Whee! I'm excited to train her!

Lisa was all worried that I'd feel awkward and sad but I'm probably the opposite of that. :)

I found out last night that my dodgy boss is not hiring a replacement for my position (even though we need one). I feel so... superfluous!

Weird! Well, I guess it was good that your boss didn't "lay you off" before you decided to leave yourself... but I'd be vaguely annoyed that my position didn't seem important to my supervisor even though I knew it was.

The rationale behind Jenny's decision is that Gab, the other admin assistant, will just do reception as well rather than hiring someone new. Noone's told Gab yet - she's going to hate it! (In fact I think she might resign over it, but that's the company's problem, not mine.) It's kind of insane because our department is overly busy as it is, but if the bosses can find any way to save money they'll do it. : / On the bright side, it means I won't have to spend my last few days here training a replacement.

Yikes, that's not very nice, is it? Cory's non-profit company does the same thing. They try so hard not to give him raises, poor thing.
