I posted this afternoon in a community asking about where I could get bulk beads to make a bead curtain with, and I was quite amused to read everybody's answers - almost all of them said I should just buy one. The funny part is that I asked the people in a craft community, where everybody makes things, not buys them. Hah.

plastic type beads are cheap and can be found at places like Michaels and Craft Warehouse.
Other places to find beads are bead stores and (often) at pow wows too.

I made a KILLER bead curtain out of macaroni (colored them too, with pen) when I was in college. It looked pretty damn sweet!

I looked at our local Craft World and it didn't have nearly enough beads - I wanted to make my strands dense enough that they'd make a nice picture (and so you can't see through it) but it'd take a ton of work. I'm debating whether or not to try ebay or some other online place, or just buy one and be done with it (though the reason why I want to make one is because the doorway is wider than any of the curtains I've seen so far).

I hadn't thought of macaroni! I wonder if the dog would try to eat it though.
