I'm going to start trying new recipes once a week, or once every two weeks, and see if we can start to branch out when it comes to dinners. We usually eat baked chicken and potatoes or peas or stuffing, which is all well and good, but it's kind of fun to try new things. A couple of weeks ago I went through my year's-worth of Cooking Light magazines and cut out all the recipes that looked good, and I glued them to copy paper and put them in page protectors. They're all out of order, so a good table of contents needs to be organized soon.

Anyway, tonight's experiment was Shrimp Pad Thai for dinner, and Indian Rice Pudding for dessert. I was mixing my countries of origin. :) The pad thai wasn't nearly as good as Beau Thai or even Thai Orchid, so Cory gave it a 4 out of 10, and I probably won't be making it again. There rice pudding is good, but not great. It said to chill it but I'm eating mine warm because I like it like that. Cory gave it a 5 out of 10, and I'll probably try it again someday after I try the other one or two rice pudding recipes in my new book.

All together, I feel bad for Cory for having to eat stuff he didn't like all night. Poor guy.

You should get "Everyday Food" magazine. It's got quick, easy recipies. My fave. I have a subscription. It's actually were I get most of my stuff from when I want to mix it up a little. Last month, I got a great one for "Soupy Black Beans" that's SUPER easy to make. And super yum.

Heh, we posted comments to each other's posts at almost the same time! :D

Some of the recipes are from the Everyday Food magazines I stole when I worked in the mailroom at Columbia. (They were addressed to the prez of the company, but I knew he didn't want them - he probably had his own chef, heh.) That's where I got the pad thai recipe. But yeah, they have good, pretty easy recipes.
