New Bag

I just finished the Pike Place Market Bag by skamamawa - I was testing the pattern for her before she had it published at CrochetMe. The finished bag is about the size of a sheet of legal paper.

I like it a lot.

LOVE IT!
Dear Meg,

How much would you charge me if I asked for a dark-to-medium purple bag with cream "seams" and a hot pink/fushia flower?

Curiously yours,
- Genevieve

Re: LOVE IT!
I would charge you the price of yarn plus $1.50 for the coin-op laundry machine to felt it, of course!

Re: LOVE IT!
I'm sorry.... "felt it"??

Also, how many things of yarn would I need for each color? Perhaps I can find something appropriate down here and mail it to you :D That way I know for sure that I get just the right shade of purple :)

Re: LOVE IT!
You know how you're not supposed to put a wool sweater in the washing machine? Well, if you want it really super thick and strong, you do. :) Felting is basically that - put wool in hot water with some soap and some agitation, and it shrinks about 30%.

You need Patons Classic yarn. 4 skeins of your main color and 1 skein of your accent color. And one skein of the color you want the flower to be.

Re: LOVE IT!
can I buy any kind of yarn or does it have to be 100% wool? Just incase I find something funky and cool :)

Re: LOVE IT!
It has to be 100% wool. I'll have to make a swatch of it if it's different than the Paton's because every yarn felts a bit differently.

Re: LOVE IT!
And it can't be superwash wool, because that wool doesn't shrink.

No, the turquoise ended up being a bit too dark. I needed something that stuck out more than the red does.
