Oops, I forgot to post this. So I shall continue at the end.

Today, like many days now, went by really quickly. I woke up from yet another dream about Park Place - they'd called me in because they were short-handed, and everything was different (the residents and the building) and I pushed a few wheelchairs around. And I spent most of the rest of the day trying to figure out how to type a note to Lynn on the computer that said "I'm not coming back tomorrow; I have another job already, at the lumber company."

I spent my lunch hour getting another crochet hook and then shoe shopping. I was successful in the hook department, but not in the shoe department. Payless had almost exclusively sandals and scary old-lady velcro shoes. I just want a pair of sensible but cute shoes I can wear with pants. And maybe skirts too. I really like my ballet flats but they're starting to fall apart. (I just typed "fall asleep" there.)

I woke up this morning because I thought I smelled something icky. I opened my eyes and there was Remmy with her nose almost touching my nose, trying to see if I was awake yet. Eww.

I look cute today. I shall wear my recycled poncho. And no nylons. Nobody wears nylons anymore, apparently.

That reminds me: my sister used to work there, and she told me that anyone who took on the position you had got fired at some point, mainly because of the management. That should make you feel better.

She used to work there?! What position did she have? When was she there?

I interviewed for the position after a lady quit, and then the lady they hired got fired after a week and I got hired. And then in the meantime, all but maybe three people got fired or quit without notice. It was bad. Now I get scared any time I hear "yeah, we have a really high turnover" at an interview. But I agree, it was totally because of management.

I know, I totally didn't put 2 and 2 together. She was an aide I think. She worked there probably in 99 or 2000? I'll ask her, but she did say people were fired all the time. We were talking about it though, and that was her scoop.

There are only a few people in the office part of it, and the rest are caregivers... it's nice to know that it wasn't just recently that people started getting fired left and right, though. I thought it was just the current administrator, who started less than a year ago (and was the activities director before me). Did your sis get fired too, or did she quit?

Yes, that's what she was, a caregiver. She eventually quit because she was moving.

I seem to be lacking on the information front on this though...:)

That's funny though. It's a small world. (One of my coworkers' husband played in a band I hired several months ago at PP - I suddenly know all these connections!)
