FO!

Finally, I got around to actually finishing a crochet project. My coworker decided to quit after working at the same place for 12 years, to become a hospice nurse. I told her I'd make her something, and she decided she wanted a lime green bag. She chose the pattern and I used some of the leftover yarn from Inga the Inchworm.

The color is pretty true in this pic, at least on my monitor. I like the shape OK, but I don't like how rounded the ribbon is - I would have liked it if the curve wasn't so sharp. But that's OK.

The lining looks nice in this picture, but the stitches and my skin don't. I don't pretend to be a talented photographer. :)

A little detail I added to the bow at the last minute because I didn't want to go rooting through the front bedroom to find the white thread to sew the bow to the bag. You can also see the monster snap that I used. I wish JoAnn's had those magnetic clasps - those would have been much nicer-looking.

And now I only have to sew a few notions to the felted bag and it'll also be finished. The zipper is daunting though - I've never sewn a zipper before.

I love that bag!
It's like a slice of lime and the stitches suit it so much. I've seen that pattern before but your version looks so much better than the one on the pattern.
I think I'll try making it myself with a wider strap.....when I finish my exams.

The pattern does call for a slightly wider strap, but I was worried that the body of the bag was getting too big. I think it would look good with a wide strap though.

Looks great! Makes me want a shot of tequila and lime. I love the lining. Random llama is right. Now the original pattern looks ten times better than it did before.

It kind of reminds me of a mu-mu in bag form - it's gigantic. But my coworker will work it well, I think. :)

Oooh, me likes it.

And, for crochet, that snap is better than a magnetic one -- the strength of the pull on those magnetic snaps is too strong for knit or crochet (it makes it erally difficult to open with stretching the stitches).

Ah, good to know. I was just worried the pressure from trying to pull the dang thing apart would hurt the fabric.
