Today I read on katu.com that Meier and Frank is no more. I knew Macy's bought them out, but it's definitely the end of an era. I never really shopped there; I'm truthfully mostly concerned about the 12 Days of Christmas display that has been in the Meier & Frank windows every December for ages. I hope Macy's keeps that tradition going - it's a great part of Portland festivities that I would really miss.

I'd expect that Macy's will be keeping the tradition. They've always been big into the holiday display thing....
I've actually been kind of excited to see Macy's up here in Oregon. Their clearance racks are too much fun! :-)

I hope they keep the tradition! It's good advertising for them, I'm sure, with all the people walking by to see the windows.

I almost never go to Macy's so I'll be interested to see if I can afford what's on their clearance racks!

Macy's sales are the best--one of my friends (and this is true) says that if you buy something full price at Macy's your an idiot because they *always* have sales and coupons and all of that.

Also--Macy's is known for the holiday displays and support--at least in NYC--so I am sure they will keep it up.
