I have a papercut on the tip of my ring finger. Ow.

Hey Laura! I finally got The Sims! It's fun! But I haven't quite gotten the hang of it... I just chose the bachelor guy for my first try, and I made him all depressed. Hahaha

Woo!!! Do you like it? What happened to Bachelor Guy, did you not make him eat or something? He might be lonely, too. Sims are so hard to keep happy sometimes. Did you play the Newbies tutorial? That helps a lot as far as getting the hang of the game :) I'm excited for you! I think I'm going to go play it now for the first time in weeks.

How come I didn't get this emailed to me? Weird.

Anyway. It just seems like there's not enough time in the day to get him to keep all his different personality aspects happy. I'm going to start over this evening and see if I can fix it. Bachelors are like starting with nothing, though, so I must have chosen the worst one. :) Two questions for you:
1. Can I destroy walls so I can "remodel" his house? Can I dig up shrubs? I haven't quite gotten the hang of the build tools. :)
2. Is there any other way to meet people than accosting them as they come by his front door? Those roommates on the other side of the block are pretty cute... haha

Haha, yeah Sim time goes by quickly and it can get frustrating.

I love answering Sim-related questions :x

1. Yes, you can completely remodel his house by clicking on the little house icon on the lower left side of the screen. It's technically called "build mode," and you can click on all the different things to get a description of how to use the tools and stuff.
2. Unless you have the Hot Date expansion pack, there's really no way to meet new people other than answering the door when they come over. Give it time, everyone in the neighborhood will visit sooner or later. But when he's in need of company, buy him a phone and he can call anyone he's already met and "invite" them to come over so he can keep his social meter in the green.

OK, so you're not much help. :P I know I can remodel his house but I don't exactly know how. I know I can click on the house, but I don't know how to get rid of existing walls and shrubs so I can make the floors. And I've been inviting people over, I just wanted MORE friends!

lol...ok, when you're in build mode, click on the "walls" section. When you're there, what you have to do is click where you want to remove wall, press and hold CTRL at the same time, then drag along the wall to be removed and it will magically disappear. The CTRL key serves to remove things. In the "plants" section, you can point to the shrub or tree you want to remove, hold CTRL, and click on it and it will be disposed of. Or you might get some money back for it, I forget. Anyhow it will be gone.

As for the friends, there's not really anything you can do except switch to playing other Sims (like the roomies) and make them invite the Bachelor over. Also, create more families and move them in the neighborhood! :P

Yay! That's much more informative. Thanks!

The Sims should be a networked game. We could all play together! :P

They ARE hard to keep happy. When I played, Laura wouldn't even talk to Lyle, and so he cried a lot. It was sad. That's why I only played once.

Those look like a lot of fun. I want to get the "Hot Date" expansion.

Yeah, I had a complex later that evening after I was finished playing - my bachelor didn't get any loving in the whole five or so hours I was playing, and I felt like it was ME who didn't get any!
