Could this be our wedding venue?!

Sorry about that, kids. I've now stuck it behind a cut. ;P

Here's Dabney State Park. People were setting up for a wedding, which was nice because we could see how the set-up could be. I took three pictures from the car and since I don't have photoshop on my computer (just Windows Imaging that came with the OS), I taped my pictures together into a panorama and scanned it. They ALMOST fit together! We have one more park to look at, and then we'll (hopefully) be able to make a decision. I kinda think it'll end up being this one, though. I love how things are coming along!

thank you :) Sorry my computer screen is so small and sucky :P
I like the venue...is it gonna be summer tho? Is there a building or covered area there?
Renting tents can be hella spendy.
Gotta plan for the possibility of rain ya know...even mid summer for that matter.

No problem! Cory emailed me and said "Dorota IMed you and said to LJ cut!" Haha

Yeah, I should have elaborated on the description of the place. On the left, there's a picnic shelter, just behind that tree that's in the foreground. To the right of that there are a bunch of picnic tables that it looks like we can move around. And the wedding should be July 12th, we think, so there shouldn't be any rain (and of course I just jinxed myself!).

I saw somewhere some rental tents that didn't look too outrageous. I think the real problem I'm going to have is catering/beverage stuff- esp. if I want to serve alcohol at the reception in a public area (i.e. the hoyt arboretum).
Also- I recently spent an afternoon at Dabney and it was a wonderfully relaxing place- I think it's perfect!

Yay! You're the first person I've talked to who's actually been there!

I'm not going to deal with rental tents... I might get one, actually, that my bridesmaids and I can finish getting ready in, but I'm not sure yet. And we're just having champagne - that's expensive enough as it is! - and then lemonade. I don't know about food yet, but eek! Way too expensive!!

Have you been to the Milo McIver state park in Estacada?

Don't you need some kind of permit to serve champagne though? That's what I'm seeing as a big problem- OLCC regulations, fees & permits could add up- might not be a big deal with just a little champagne though!
Food is probably going to be my single biggest expense! YIKES!

I've been to McIver, but only to launch a raft so I can't tell you much about it other than as a good way to start or end a rafting trip :-)
I do remember it as being awfully out of the way, but then again I don't know where in the Portland area you live...
I need to get up to the arboretum and try to visulize what it will be like (i wish i could reserve it now, I'd feel much better!!!)

Yeah, we figured it was really out of the way, since we couldn't find it the first time we tried.

So you're doing the arboretum? They've got so many fees! But it looks like it'll be really pretty - we considered it.

Yes, you have to have a permit, but it's really just asking permission from the manager of the park. I don't think it's a fee - he just wants to know who's drinking.
