Just a quick post about work before I head off to it.

It's going to take a lot of getting used to. The physical part (i.e. being on my feet all day without sitting) is already getting easier, and I think the mental part (remembering where the buttons are on the register and remembering what food is where in the case) is a little easier. It's just the emotional part that is going to be hard. Things like not having any freedom to use the phone or to go outside for a minute because the counter has to be covered. Things like smiling when people stare at you while you're messing up their order (yeah, I know that won't happen as much when I actually know what I'm doing). Things like having a schedule that's all over the place and includes weekends. Things like not being able to see Cory very much anymore. It's only been three days, and it's probably mostly anxiety about learning something new (I mean, for goodness sakes, it's a minimum-wage job that isn't complicated, really) and getting my schedule all mixed up.

Heh, and that's another thing, speaking of minimum wage. I feel like it's such a huge waste of time working this hard for the tiny amount of money I'm going to receive for it. Aren't I worth more than this?

We just had a spider crisis!

I found two huge juicy black spiders on the ceiling. Cory got one of them into a pint glass and flushed it, but the other was in the corner between the ceiling and the wall and Cory smashed it with a spatula. He's currently wiping a huge spot of nasty spider guts off the wall. (That was kind of my fault - he stood there holding the spatula against the spider on the wall when he smooshed it and I took a hammer and gave it a couple of poundings just to make sure it was dead.) That sucker crunched!!
