S&G 1

(no subject)

You know what's annoying? When you have to talk to 12 seniors who don't really want to hear what you have to say. For ten or fifteen minutes every day.

Part of our exercise routine is to sit in a circle and hit a balloon around. I stand in the middle and throw the balloon to people so it goes where it's supposed to. And I talk about all sorts of random stuff. But because I'm not so good at talking for that long without preparing, I've been looking up weird news stories. Most of them are stories I can't use due to nobody wanting to hear about grossness - so stories about people killing other people or blood-and-guts-type stuff are out.

One day one of the seniors mentioned that I should read the funny articles in Reader's Digest. So I grabbed one last week and tried it - and none of them were funny, nobody laughed. They complain that the stories I tell them aren't positive enough, but even the heartwarming stories start off with ickiness before people prevail. I've talked about holidays that are close, I've talked about places I've been and places I want to go. (Nobody really talks back much, so I'm on my own - conversations almost never lead to any ideas.)

So what should I talk about?!

In other news, today is Mom's last chemo treatment!!! Next she starts radiation, which she has to go through EVERY DAY. Oof.
