S&G 1

(no subject)

The blackberry thing didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I made one big batch in my 9x13 and when it was done baking (a little overdone but not by much), we tasted it and it was gross. It didn't even smell like blackberries when it came out, and it didn't taste like it either. Yuck. So we ran to WinCo and got frozen blackberries and some cobbler mix, and whipped up a small batch since we learned our lesson the first time. It was a lot better - it actually tasted like blackberry cobbler instead of eww. So I made two double-batches in a row, and went to bed before the last one came out (Cory waited until it was ready and then pulled it out of the oven for me). I watched So You Think You Can Dance, though - I'm glad it's back on!

I had a hard time sleeping until Cory came to bed. It's weird what you're used to when you're sleeping. Once we tried to switch places in bed and had a horrible night. Strange.

Since Cory waited until 11 to go to bed, he was planning on sleeping in. I apparently would have none of that though - I was a little groggy when I woke up so I pushed snooze on the alarm instead of turning it off, so when it started beeping again I had to run all the way upstairs to turn it off. And then while I was trying to shut the door of the bathroom so I could dry my hair a little more quietly, I kicked the spiral wire thingy at the bottom of the door that keeps it from gouging the wall, and it twanged really loud. I felt really bad. I really did want him to be able to sleep in, I swear.

I had to pop the last cobbler back into the oven for a little while this morning to see if I could remedy the grey mush that was undercooked cobbler dough in the center of the pan. It didn't work very well, but I still scraped together 39 little containers of cobbler and threw away the grey mush (well, I ate some of it because it was mostly cooked, just a little mushy, but it was grey so I didn't think anyone else would appreciate it).

And now I'm sitting here looking forward to a three-day weekend. That doesn't happen much at my company - I think we get Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and the day after, and then whatever happens around Christmas/New Year's.
