S&G 1

Every year at Halloween it's like a switch gets flipped. Before Halloween we had gloriously sunny early-fall days, and the leaves were crunchy on the ground. On Halloween we had a few sprinkles during the day but the weather broke by trick-or-treat time. And then yesterday it started raining. And raining and raining. The sidewalk between my townhouse and my car flooded (like it does every year) so I stepped in a few puddles on my way home and got my socks wet. We turned on the heat for the first time (and yet the cat went upstairs where the window had been open all day to take her nap) and settled in for the first evening that we noticed how dark it was and how early.

It must not have rained all night because the sidewalk wasn't flooded when I left this morning, but it's been raining all morning. We did have a sun break and then the dark clouds rolled in again. If this keeps up (which it will, until about the 4th of July), it'll be a perfect night to be glued to the news channels, watching election results coverage. (We voted by absentee ballot a week or two ago - I love that nobody in Oregon has to wait in line to vote!) I predict tomorrow will see me bleary-eyed from staying up too late watching politics.
