Running today was good. Had a pain in my left calf, and still do, but it might be because my last few minutes I was concentrating on keeping my toes straight. (My feet point out to the sides a little and it annoys me, so I'm slowly trying to change the habit and build up the muscles that'll keep them straight.)

I think I'll get some Luna bars for when I'm hungry in the midmorning.

It's yoga night tonight! Yay!

And I've lost ONE pound. Whoop.

Have you been fitted for correct shoes? If not I highly recommend going to a shop where they specialize in running shoes, if you can get to one. I have a tendency to pronate and was fitted with shoes that had pretty solid stabilizers built in. I also found out I was buying half a size too small. Made all the difference in the world in terms of muscle/joint pain and fatigue.

No, I haven't been fitted. I've been thinking about it though. :D The odd thing is that while my feet point out, I still put more weight on the outside edge of my heels.

I do too! I actually have to be sort of careful because sometimes stepping off of curbs and such my foot will occasionally turn on its side and cause me to stumble. Or to wipe out spectacularly, as happened a few weeks ago in front of the farmer's market. Very graceful.

If you are having leg pain I wouldn't put off getting properly fitted. When/if you go, they should take the time to watch how you run (the guys at Fleet Feet in Chicago make you go out on the sidwalk and run up and down for them) and be able to make a recommendation.

And hooray for the lost pound!

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to see where the closest running shop is - I might have to go all the way to Portland but that's OK. :)

One pound is good! I've been running for nine weeks straight now and haven't lost anything. Correction: I've lost what were becoming love handles. Muscle weighs more than fat.

My feet point out, too, and I try to build those muscles, too. :) I want a resistance band that I can loop around my ankles to do exercises for correcting that. For now I just "concentrate".

Yeah, I'm telling myself that weight really doesn't matter, and that's true - all I really want is a flatter tummy and smaller butt. I could care less if I looked like I weighed 140 and I really weighed 300.

Already losing weight- Good for you! It seems that you've really hit the ground running, pardon the pun.
I'm happy for you- you've started a new healthy lifestyle and are sticking to it.
I need to do the same. It's hard to get started, but I know I'll feel so much better once I get going.

For me, the hardest part is sticking to it. I'm good at getting myself all hyped up and ready to start, but after a few weeks my interest wanes. I'm hoping that this will become a habit though - that's my goal.
