Does anyone know of any indie jewelry design websites that sells rosaries that are non-religious? I'm looking for something that doesn't have a crucifix but has... I'm not sure yet. Something else.

a rosary that's non-religious?
What do you mean...are you looking for worry-beads?

Well, here's background - my coworker is quitting and the 10th is her last day. We always tease her about how she needs to become a nun, and we thought it'd be cute to give her a rosary that isn't religious, since she isn't particularly religious herself (part of the reason we tease her about being a nun).

uh...I can make you one...
Do you want it to have all the other stuff? It's not just a necklace with a cross...there's like big and small beads placed along the necklace as per the praying you're supposed to do. The look of the beads, what it's made of and all that, is not what makes a rosary - it's like a string on your finger reminder (meaning you're supposed to hold the beads to recite the prayers...and Catholics like to do stuff like "say three Hail Marys" and so on. Actually, on the Rosary, I think it's the Greatest Commandment. that you have to keep on repeating over and over and the little beads help you remember which one you're on)

Yeah, I'd like it to have all the other beads, 'cause without a crucifix it probably wouldn't look like a rosary without the right amount of beads in the right places.

Let me look around a bit more tonight, since I don't even know what I want to put where the crucifix goes. (And who knows, I might just end up deciding to use a "correct" rosary - I was just putting my feelers out.)

Tangent: when I was young I used to fall asleep to Hail Marys in Spanish on 88.3 or something like that on the radio. It was relaxing. :)

It's so neat that you're looking up rosary stuff, because I'm considering-- what with my dual interests in fashion and religious iconography-- incorporating them as accessories in my wardrobe. I found this site that sells all sorts of rosaries for super-cheap, including kits that permit you to make rosaries yourself (and presumably, leave off the crucifix part if you so desired).

Hope this helps!
