I had a few trick-or-treaters tonight! My first one was a ladybug. She must live pretty close by because her little bag was empty. I had a cowboy and a big bad wolf and a Snow White and a boy in a Halloween t-shirt, and then when the group of high school boys came by and banged on the door I decided I was done with trick-or-treating. Then I was really done when the guys at the door sounded like they were my age. There was one last knock and I sat for a minute and then thought "well, one more trick-or-treater I guess..." and I opened the door and it was Cory coming home from work. Heh.

what does a "cory coming home from work" look like? I might have to dress up like that next year ;)

It looks tired. Just work full-time and go to school full-time for a year and then have midterms and work projects all hit you at the same time and then you'll look just like it! :D

I spent the day shopping in WalMart's fabric department and then fabricating Sami's costume (well, pieces of it) over at my parent's place on the south side of town. Dad (Grandpa) took Sami and her best friend out trick or treating, while I stayed and handed out treats with my mother. We had just over twenty trick or treaters the whole evening. Unfortunately, Sami had the habit of meeting up with some of these kids out there and then calling us back home to tell us to 'hook them up' with treats.

Poor Cory... How much more school does he have to complete before he can enjoy a normal schedule?

What was Sami dressed as tonight?

Cory has about two years. Maybe three. It depends on how many classes he can take in a term. Work is pretty busy for him - hopefully it'll calm down a little so he can try to finish more quickly.

My cold is over - maybe we should meet for coffee soon? :)

Well, I'm afraid your cold has migrated to my side of town. I was off work today and had plans to go to Portland to play. Instead, I ended up in bed, doped up all day. :-( But as soon as I get better, I really do want to meet up. How does next week sound? Would that work with your class/work schedule?

Oh, and Sami dressed up as a goth angel / angel of death. She wore these beautiful black feathered wings we got at Fred Meyer. I bought a black brocade patterned waist cincher and embellished it with some black ribbon (and some with silver accents). I then embellished an old black spaghetti strapped tank top with the same ribbon and black lace. I crafted a very crude skirt with a jagged bottom edge, made from four layers of sheer black fabric.

I found some cute boots at WalMart and bought them since I needed more shoes, anyway. They almost look like little combat boots. She wore those with fishnets.

All in all, it was a very cute outfit. My dad took photos, but I didn't bring my camera. As soon as I get a copy of his photos, I'll post them here. I'm very proud of my three hour costume assembly! :-)
